Bridge across the Volga River in Kimry

Bridge across the Volga River in Kimry

Tver Region (overhaul)
Design, Detail Design Development
Project period: 2005 – 2007
Client: State Enterprise “Directorate of Territorial Road Fund of Tver Region”

The overhaul included the strengthening of reinforced concrete decks using a cable-stayed system (this method was applied in Russia for the first time).

Main parameters of the bridge:
– Total length of the river crossing with approaches:  904.9 m
– Bridge length: 554.4 m;
– Bridge width: 15+2х.5 m

It was the first project in Russia where light nanoconcrete was applied for carriageway leveling coating.

The bridge was opened for traffic on 26 October 2007.

<
For the first time in Russia, strengthening of the existing prestressed reinforced concrete box deck was implemented by means of the cable-stayed system (6 pylons and 24 cable stays). To level the carriageway we have utilised light nanoconcrete with bulk weight of 1.6 t/m2 and plastomagnetic balls instead of crushed stone. This has allowed increasing the bridge capacity up to standard values and straightening the carriageway profile.
